2. Description of Service Novara is a personalized tutoring platform that helps students understand academic material. Novara is a study aid — it is not a substitute for attending class, completing your own work, or seeking help from your institution.
3. Academic Integrity Novara is designed to help you understand material, not to complete assignments for you. Using Novara to submit work that is not your own may violate your institution's academic integrity policy. You are responsible for understanding and following your institution's policies.
4. Age Requirement You must be at least 13 years old to use Novara. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have parental or guardian consent.
5. Your Account You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
6. Uploaded Content You retain ownership of files and content you upload. By uploading content you grant Novara a limited license to process it for the purpose of providing tutoring services. We do not share your uploaded content with third parties.
7. Acceptable Use You agree not to misuse the service, attempt to reverse engineer it, use it to generate harmful content, or attempt to circumvent any restrictions.
8. Disclaimer Novara is provided "as is." We make no guarantees about academic outcomes. AI-generated content may contain errors — always verify important information with your instructor or authoritative sources.
9. Limitation of Liability To the maximum extent permitted by law, Novara and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
10. Changes We may update these terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify users of material changes by email.

Privacy Policy

What we collect We collect your name, email address, and password (hashed) when you create an account. We collect the content of your study sessions, uploaded documents, and learning progress in order to provide the tutoring service.
How we use it Your data is used solely to provide and improve the Novara tutoring service. We use your learning history to personalize tutoring to how you learn. We do not sell your data. We do not use your data to train AI models without explicit consent.
AI processing Your messages and uploaded documents are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. Anthropic's privacy policy governs how they handle this data. We do not store your conversations with third-party AI providers beyond what is necessary to provide the service.
Data retention Your account data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
Security Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. We take reasonable measures to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security.
Cookies We use a session token stored in localStorage to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies.
Your rights You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us to exercise these rights.
